New Skimboard Companies And Their Cool Boards

Shortbus Skimboards is a company that was started in a basement out of Buxton, North Carolina in 2006 but didn't start selling skimboards until 2008. They're made out in a mobile trailer owned by the creator/founder. Shortbus boards are the only boards that are made using a resin infusion system. Resin infusion allows the boards to be much lighter than the competition while still being durable and strong, this process allows them to use 35. oz of glass. Shortbus skimboards uses only the best quality materials for their boards as well.

Neil Tolson is the pro rider for Shortbus skimboards. He has a BA in Biology and rides Shortbus boards exclusively.

Shortbus skimboards has some great looking boards that are of the highest quality. We look forward to seeing great things come from this now small but soon to be explosive company.

Maui Skimmers was started in 1986 in Kihei Town, Maui, Hawaii. Also the founder began making skimboards in 1980.

Maui Skimmers separates itself by designing and building boards that have more of a surfboard type shape than other skimboards. Maui Skimmers describes them as "small surfboards without fins." Their boards are also a bit narrower, more foam volume and they put channel bottoms on the board for added control during turning. Their boards work in waves from a foot high to as high as you want.

There are many different skimboard companies to choose from out there now and everyone has their own taste and style. Some boards may be for you and fit your exact style and some may not fit your style of riding. The best thing to do is try some out and decide which board best suits your style of boarding and technique.

Go out, have fun and enjoy the summer.
